The Anker MagGo Qi2 Wireless Charger Pad works well, but until we see more Qi2 phones, it’s best suited for iPhone users only.
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Strong magnetic attachment | Fixed cable rather than USB-C at both ends |
Qi2 compliant for faster wireless charging | So far, only iPhones are Qi2 compliant |

Anker MagGo Wireless Charger Pad Conclusion
Right now, I’m running AlexReviewsTech without Google Ads at all.
Why? Most people complain about them a lot, and I can see why — they can often be intrusive or irrelevant, and they get between you and the content you’d like to enjoy in the first place.
The problem is… that limits the income for the site, which makes it harder to run (servers cost money) and harder to justify (I like to eat food… sometimes!)
That’s why I’m instead seeking reader assistance to keep AlexReviewsTech viable, primarily via Ko-Fi donations.

Wireless charging is popular because of its convenience, but excluding some brand-specific wireless charging solutions, it’s never been particularly quick. That’s a matter that’s seen some speed increases of late with Qi2 compliant devices coming to market.
The Anker MagGo Wireless Charger Pad is amongst the simplest of such devices; it’s a charging plate that’s Qi2 compliant if you want the shortest possible description of it, frankly.
Design
Did I mention that the Anker MagGo Wireless Charger Pad was a wireless charging plate?
I did?
Good, well that’s sorted then.
There’s not too much to say in design terms, aside from the fact that you can get it in either a black or silver finish – I tested the silver unit – and that it has a 1.5m USB-C cable.
On the positive side, it's nicely heavy, and feels robust, something that hasn’t always been true for every wireless charging plate I’ve tested in the past. I haven’t stress tested it to the point of destruction (because what would that prove?) but it feels like the plate could last a nice long time.
I’m not so sure about the cable, despite Anker’s claim that it’s good for up to 10,000 bends. Cables all eventually break, and my concern here is that it’s a fixed cable going into the charging plate.
Ideally that would be USB-C at that end, so it could be replaced if it did get damaged. It’s also worth noting that all you get is a charging pad; there’s no supplied USB-C charger in the box, so you'll need to provide that yourself.
Performance
Wireless charging plates aren’t hard to test; drop a compliant phone onto the charger, check that it’s working and you’re essentially done unless something drastic and dramatic happens with heat generation.
Nothing like that did happen, thankfully.
As noted, it’s Qi2 compliant, which means it brings in the magnetic attachment system used by Apple’s MagSafe into play as long as you’re using a Qi2 compatible phone.
The one catch here is that at the time of writing, the only Qi2 phones you can buy…are iPhones that are already MagSafe compatible. Over time that may well change – there was a lot of hope that the S24 Ultra might be Qi2, but it wasn’t, so the next best bet is probably the Google Pixel 9 Pro… but we’ll have to wait and see on that score.
Attachment to an iPhone – specifically an iPhone 15 Pro – worked well and charged nicely with minimal heat buildup even through a case, something I intermittently find a problem with that handset.
The magnets are strong enough to hold the phone up even in ridiculous positions, and while it doesn’t have a stand – unlike, say, the Belkin BoostCharge Pro Qi2 Convertible Magnetic Stand – you could prop it up and have Standby Mode working with just a little bit of tweaking.

Qi2 chargers are all Qi1 compatible, and that works fine too if you’ve got a wireless charging phone or other device, though you lose all the magnetic benefits and will have to fall back to fiddly adjustments of where you place your phone in order to get charging working properly.
Anker MagGo Wireless Charger Pad: Alex’s Verdict
At $54.95, this isn’t the cheapest way to keep your phone charge flowing – that remains a direct cabled connection – but it’s a nicely built device that fits the bill if you’re after a simple charging plate with 15W charging capability.
Qi2 is good to see, but right now, the market for this is still just exclusively iPhones, so I wouldn't recommend it just yet for Android users.

This is done via the generosity of folks like you who cover the difference between having on-site ads (with their intrusivenes, flashy images, interstitials, all that bad stuff) by making a one-off or regular sponsorship donation. Something’s got to keep the server spinning up.
