Daiso Touch Pen Review: Budget Apple Pencil Killer? [Video]

The Apple Pencil is a lovely bit of kit – if you can afford one. Is the $10 Daiso Touch Pen, a rather clear faux Apple Pencil worth buying – and what compromises does it have? Find out in my comprehensive video review!

I do like the Apple Pencil, but I’ve never quite been able to bring myself to call it “good value”, because unless you’re a pro-grade illustrator the asking price for what is, at the end of the day, a stylus is damned high. Sure, some of that is the fact that it’s “Apple” branded, and Apple does view itself as a “premium” brand, but still, paying over $100 for what is a pencil has always seemed like a pricey proposition to me. Is it just me?

So on my recent sojourn through Japan when I spotted that Daiso, home of 100¥ bargains had its own Daiso Touch Pen for sale, I was intrigued.

What kind of compromises do you bring to the game when you’re selling a Touch Pen for (at minimum) 13x less than Apple’s asking price — and is it worth buying at all? Watch the video above to find out what I thought of the Daiso Touch Pen!
