Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S10 FE promises “Intelligent Experiences”

Is that different from Artificial Intelligence, just because the Galaxy Tab S10 FE is a Fan Edition tablet, AKA a cheaper one?

It’s pretty much a given that any premium-level Samsung Galaxy device will be followed within three to six months by an “FE” version of the device. FE in this case stands for “Fan Edition”, officially speaking, but it’s essentially Samsung-speak for “this is the cheaper model, slightly cut down”. Of course, that wouldn’t look quite as good as a suffix.

The latest device to make the shift from full-fat, full-priced to FE is the Galaxy Tab S10 series in the form of the Galaxy Tab S10 FE.

Alex’s Take: Galaxy Tab S10 FE

Like it did with the Galaxy S24 FE, the essential selling argument here is that you’re getting most of the premium experience, right down to the inclusion of an S-Pen, whether you use it to jot down notes or just for idle scribbling.

If you’re a fan of larger tablets – I find them awkward but you’re free to differ – then the fact that there’s an S10+ FE model with a 13.1 inch display might have some appeal to you. Wouldn’t be my choice, obviously.

This being 2025, you can’t have a shiny new tech gadget without embedded AI, and you might think that this would be Galaxy AI, the branding that Samsung uses for devices such as the Galaxy Tab S10+ or Galaxy S25 Ultra

You’d be wrong, however. Samsung’s using the rather more lightweight term Intelligent Experiences in its release touting the new tablets, and what this equates to (at least at first glance, based on the information provided to me) is a device with a smaller subset of AI features, much the same ones found in the Galaxy S24 FE or higher-end Galaxy A56 in fact. So you get Circle to Search, Object Eraser, Best Face and AI assisted Auto Trimming for your video files if that’s important to you.

To date, I’m still a little underwhelmed and/or appalled by most AI efforts, though the hidden benefit here might be that while Samsung’s remaining mum on whether it’ll charge for the full-fat Galaxy AI suite at the end of this year, it would feel a little harder for it to charge for the lesser suite found here.

One final thought: Am I the only one who thinks it’s a little odd that the 5G-enabled models only come in one colour choice, given that you’re paying more for them?
