One part bar, one part arcade — but is Adelaide’s Flipside Barcade worth visiting? There was only one way to find out…
Barcades are a big thing internationally, but here in Australia they’ve had a bit of an on-again/off-again kind of run in various different cities. I did visit Flipside Barcade in Adelaide the last time I was here in early 2023, so a return visit was always on the cards.
As I’d not written up or filmed a review the last time, this seemed like the perfect opportunity to check out what makes the Flipside Barcade good — or not so good.
Cost: Typically $15/hour for unlimited play, some time-specific specials
Location: 538 Goodwood Road Daw Park
Tables: 11 Tables (at the time of visiting): Solar Ride, Fathom, F-14 Tomcat, Rollergames, Viper Night Drivin’, Dr Who, Ripley’s Believe It Or Not, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Walking Dead, Celts, Rush, plus arcade games.
I promise, this isn’t becoming a pinball-centric site; I just happen to be in the position to check out a number of places that specialise in pinball (as with the Australian Pinball Museum video, if you’ve not watched that yet.)
Flipside’s web site can be found here.
